Environmental Risks
Intrusion, damage to landscapes, traffic, smoke, noise, dust, possible damage to caves, loss of land, and a deterioration in water quality.
Pollution
Quarrying activities cause pollution of surrounding water resources and groundwater. High concentrations of chemicals such as arsenic, sulfuric acid, and mercury produced from quarrying operations spread over the water surface.
This sewage containing the above-mentioned chemicals leads to the destruction of the surrounding vegetation. If this runoff water is dumped into the forest areas, it will create a bad situation for the environment.
Other Impacts
Possible impacts of mining include climate change, deforestation/habitat destruction, pollution, soil erosion, human-wildlife conflict, and the loss of biodiversity
Rock quarries create invisible dust particles proven to cause silicosis—a progressive, incurable lung disease. Long-term exposure to particulate matter is strongly associated with heart disease, stroke, infertility, and pregnancy complications
Costs
Possible loss of natural carbon sinks, eradication of biodiversity, noise and air pollution, and disruption of natural streams and springs.
Enviraculture have vast experience in dealing with the Environmental Section of the various local authorities in relation to obtaining Planning Permission and Waste Permit Licences for a landfill site.
As part of this service we will meet the client on-site to discuss the overall area of the site to be filled together with the depth to fill and type of fill that is proposed to be tipped into the landfill site.
We then will liaise with the Environmental Section and Planning Department of each local authority to ascertain whether or not Planning Permission will be granted for this type of development.
In the event that the pre-planning discussions are positive, we will then prepare the Planning Permission and Waste Permit Applications on the basis of advice obtained during pre-planning discussions.
